At this time of year, many of my clients are thinking about learning to cook some of their comfort food favourites. One of those is invariably fish pie.  

But fish pie can feel daunting, like it takes forever and one too many things to juggle when they’re not feeling confident in their skills. 

My saucy smoked haddock is essentially a deconstructed fish pie and takes some of the stress and time pressure away.  

Start by getting some jackets in the oven or air fryer and that’s the potatoes taken care of and out of mind so you can focus on making the sauce. Prep some extra veg to go on the side if you’ve got the energy and time then serve with a smile on your face and a greater feeling of confidence in your kitchen skills.
