So many of the parents I work with feel miserable at mealtimes, stuck in a rut eating the same foods week in week out, wishing they were eating something else whilst reluctantly serving and tucking into the limited foods they know their children will eat.
They feel they can’t serve anything interesting or new because their children won’t eat it. But if we don’t serve it, they’re never going to have the opportunity to leave their safe space and learn to like new foods.
So, let’s gently and gradually introduce them to something new in a way which is easy for them to approach.
My baked chicken and black bean rice dish is a great one to try at family mealtimes because the rice and chicken are relatively plain (the chicken could even be left completely plain for your children). There are lots of other bits on the side to take the dish from dull to exciting for you with the opportunity for your child to explore in their own time.
Will you give this recipe a try with your family this week?
