Tip: Make a fruit salad

My top three reasons for making a fruit salad:
1. Fruit that is past it’s best and everyone is deliberately ignoring in the fruit bowl will get eaten if turned into a fruit salad – cut off any bruised bits, remove some or all of the skin if unappealing and cut into pieces.
2. Fights between the children because there aren’t enough cherries to go round are stopped – cut them up and throw them in your fruit salad and everyone gets their share.
3. Get more fruit into you and your children – studies prove that we’ll eat more fruit if it is prepared and in manageable pieces than if we’re offered whole fruits. Also, children who aren’t keen on certain fruits are more likely to eat them when they’re in small pieces combined with other fruits they like – invariably they’ll hardly notice they’re there!
