Why won’t he eat it?

A carrot is a carrot, why won’t he just eat it? Foods have to be just so or he won’t touch it.

Maybe your child will eat the flowery bit of the broccoli but not the stalk, only eat sandwiches cut into triangles with the crusts cut off then fine, likes to see each element of the meal separately on their plate or won’t eat a carrot cut into sticks but will eat it when in circles?

Accepting your child’s quirky food behaviour can be a challenge. Your child may have some habits around food and eating which drive you crazy but I’m here to reassure you that it is normal, it is all about learning, exploring, becoming familiar and comfortable with foods.

We need to accept these strange behaviours as they’re all behaviours we can work with to help them develop their love of food.

It’s better to expect to deal with these quirks for now and see your child happily eating something than to cause a fight and them eat nothing.
