5 ways to make mealtimes easier

Learning to like food takes time, patience and perseverance. It can be extremely frustrating and testing for us as carers and, whilst we mean well, often our love for our children and our desire to ensure they’re healthy can lead to this learning process being even more challenging for our children and consequently more infuriating and distressing for us.  

So, here are 5 ways to make mealtimes easier for both you and your child: 

  1. Take the pressure off your child to eat – focus on the joy and the nutrition will follow
  2. Eat with your child and show them how enjoyable food can be
  3. Start with an empty plate – allow your child to serve themselves
  4. Do some planning – take the stress away so you can be present and calm
  5. Let them explore food away from the table – build comfort and familiarity
