Both my children devoured mild and fragrant curries and dhals when weaning only to point blank refuse to even so much as sniff them once they hit the toddler stage. Such a disappointment to the two of us who, before children would eat curry around three times a week!
Thankfully, Harvey has seen the error of his ways (!!) and over the last couple of years has slowly been discovering the joys of a range of curries.
Alexis has been steadfast in her refusal, sticking to the rice, breads and, of course, poppadoms with yoghurt, veg and, surprisingly, mango chutney. That is until a couple of weeks ago when she asked to try the paneer out of the curry. She had a nibble and left it at that. The following week she asked to try the beef from the curry which she ate and shortly after asked for another.
Is this the breakthrough we’ve been waiting for?! There’s more curry on the meal plan soon so we shall see.
It’s important to celebrate the successes, no matter how small they may seem. Recognise this progress and more will follow.
Are you celebrating any mealtime wins this week?
