10 easy ways to save time, money and energy in the kitchen

Thinking about what to feed the family, shopping for the ingredients and cooking every day can very quickly and easily start to take its toll so today I wanted to share my 10 easy ways to help you save time, money and energy in the kitchen:

  1. Meal plan – knowing what you’re going to cook means you’re buying only what you need
  2. Make the most of the food you’re buying – use your leftovers, use the whole ingredient, scrub don’t peel, store food properly to prevent waste
  3. Make friends with your freezer – freeze anything you can’t use and think about buying frozen
  4. Check out what fruit and veg is in season – not only is it at its best, it’s usually cheaper too
  5. Use up what you’ve got – make a plan to use the ingredients in your fridge especially before you go shopping
  6. Think about what you can prep over time so you don’t have to do it all at dinner time
  7. Use a microwave, slow cooker or air-fryer as much as you can to save on energy costs
  8. If you’re putting the oven on, make sure you’re filling it – what else can you cook for another day?
  9. Serve meals family-style – anything that is left can be used for another meal or snack
  10. Delegate – you don’t have to do all the planning, shopping, cooking and clearing up yourself
