You read it right, I’m giving you permission to not panic about ice cream and chips being the staple foods over the holidays.

Focus on enjoying the holidays, some time together and making whatever food you have fun.

Your child’s normal, hopefully reasonably balanced, diet can quite easily go out of the window for many reasons, not least not feeling like eating in hot weather (we experience this as adults too), feeling out of sorts in a strange place and a lack of routine.

Try for balance and lean towards foods with greater nutritional value when you can but remember it’s only a short time and once back into your normal daily patterns you can encourage a wider variety of foods and more nutritional foods as standard. 

Let’s put all foods on a level playing field and enjoy eating them when we have them.
