It’s only natural to feel this way

It's natural to feel this way

Food is love. Feeding our children is a fundamental way of showing how much we love them, look after them and want so much for them to thrive in this world. When that food is rejected, it feels like a stab in the heart.

It’s only natural for us to feel upset, frustrated, worried, angry and all those other negative emotions you’re feeling right now.

The hard part is accepting those feelings exist and moving on from them, learning not to take the food refusal personally, understanding that it isn’t about you or your cooking, it’s a stage of learning and development your child is going through, just as they went through a stage of waking in the night or having tantrums when dealing with big emotions.

Help your child to feel loved, supported and safe at mealtimes so that they can move on from this stage and develop their love of food.

If you need help accepting and moving on from these negative emotions and would like to learn some practical tips to guide them on their food journey as well as a calm and gentle way to support your child to learn to explore and eat more foods, please join me for my Helping your fussy eater develop a love of food masterclass on Thursday 24 November at 8pm.
