I tried another slow cooker experiment this week and was really pleased with the results. I sometimes make a Dauphonoise type dish with smoked mackerel flaked through it which is baked in the oven. I wondered if it would be possible to replicate in the slow cooker – and it was. No crispy brown top but a more creamy texture.
