Are you cooking three, four or even five different meals each night?
It’s easy to fall into this trap as it feels like it’s the only way to please everyone, for your children to eat well or to cater to different dietary needs and requirements. But, it’s a lot of work and exhausting, isn’t it?
What if there was a way to make one meal the whole family will enjoy, would you give it a try?
When planning your meals for next week, pick one night when you can give this a go (start with one night next week and gradually build it up to more nights each week).
- First think about which meal you would like to eat.
- Next think about what you can add to the meal to suit others and to ensure there’s a preferred food for your child.
- Then, rather than plating up individual meals, when you serve the meal, put all the food in the middle of the table in dishes, on trays or in pans for everyone to help themselves to as much or as little as they want of what’s there.
- Anything leftover can be put in the fridge or freezer for another meal or snack, reducing any waste.
It’s really simple to do and works wonders for fussy eaters and adults alike. If you’re wondering how on earth it works in practice, check out my stories each night as I share what we’ve had to eat as a family and how I’ve served it.
Will you try making and serving one meal for everyone next week and give yourself a break? I’d love to know how you get on.
