The equivalent of 4 million Christmas meals goes to waste over the festive period. 12 million carrots, 17.2 million sprouts, 11.3 million roast potatoes and 7.4 million mince pies.
Please do what you can to help reduce these figures this year (and you’ll likely find you’ll save yourself some money in the process):
- Make a meal plan
- Work out how much you need to buy and cook
- Check what you’ve already got before you shop
- Write shopping lists
- Break up your shops so you don’t have too much to store and can use up what you’ve got before buying more
- Store food promptly and appropriately so that it lasts longer
- Make use of the whole ingredient
- Use your freezer (but remember to label and list what goes in it!)
- Get creative with your leftovers.
If there’s anything here you’re unsure about, message me and I’ll happily share some tips.
