Around 9.8 million cups of gravy will go to waste over Christmas. That’s a lot of gravy!
One way to avoid the waste is to think about how much you need to make for your meal. If you’re regularly left with leftover gravy after a Sunday roast, use this as a guide and practice run up to Christmas to work out what might be the right amount.
But, no one wants to be left short of gravy on Christmas Day, so if you do make too much don’t pour it down the sink or put it in the food waste.
Leftover gravy can be kept in the fridge for a couple of days or frozen to be used another time (though use it within a couple of months).
It’s full of roast dinner flavour and is great added to stews and pies. Pour it in your turkey pie mixture, your leftovers soup or your Christmas curry!
