My children love to have pudding but, after tea in our house, it’s fruit and/or natural yoghurt because invariably they’ve had a sweet pudding at school.
Sometimes they’re happy with their chosen fruit just as it is, other times we’ll use up a few bits to make a fruit salad, they might have their fruit in a bowl with yoghurt and ask for some nutty sprinkles (that’s granola to you and me!) to make it a little more interesting.
More recently though, they’ve both started to get quite inventive with their fruit desserts and making them after tea has become quite the ritual; apple rings with peanut butter, clementine segments sprinkled with cinnamon, sliced banana with grape halves and the highlight, sliced banana, dollops of with peanut butter, plain yoghurt and sprinkled with Cornflakes.
It’s been inspiring to watch as they consider what is available, which ingredients go well together, confidently chopping, supporting each other with their creations and discussing how they might proudly present it for us all to try.
