Cooking for me is more than just preparing a meal. It is therapeutic, a time to relax, to be with my thoughts.
But more and more now, I’m in the kitchen with A, in particular, so it’s no longer the alone time I used to crave and enjoy.
In trying to create more time for myself (it’s a steep learning curve!) and force myself to stop and relax (not something that comes naturally to me – I like to be busy), I’ve been thinking about other activities that I used to do and put aside because there was never any time.
I took a day off recently for my birthday and spent most of it making a cushion cover for H using his old baby vests and sleep suits – it reminded me how much I enjoy sewing, knitting and crochet.
So, I’ve dug out some wool and a hook and I’m creating again.
