You don’t need to bin your black avocados or your avocado skins.
There are some things which cause such bitter disappointment – cutting into an avocado, for example, mouth watering in anticipation of eating it on toast with an egg, some crab, or as a guacamole on top of a chilli bowl perhaps, only to discover it’s black. Holding back the tears, you take it to the food waste bin, realising that not only is your dish not going to be as satisfying as you were hoping, but you’ve just put £1 in the bin.
Well, no more! Whilst the brown or black flesh is less than appealing to eat as it is, combined with some chocolate, you could make a delicious vegan mousse or cheesecake. Or, if you still don’t fancy eating it, why not combine it with some yoghurt to make a cooling and hydrating face mask?
As for the skin, use it to dye some tea towels or other fabric items. It’ll turn them a beautiful blush pink. Freeze or dry out the skins until you’re ready to use them.
