Tip: Use books to help your child develop a love of food

H and A reading

Today is #childrensbookday so what better day to pick up a book, have a cuddle and read with your child?

There’s a lot more to food than the act of eating and to help children (and fussy eaters in particular) develop their love of food, there are lots of things we can do away from the dinner table to support them, including reading books about food.

Some of my favourites are Oliver’s Vegetables, Handa’s Surprise and the Usborne Look Inside Food lift the flap book.

But you don’t just have to read children’s books, looking at cookery books together will widen their knowledge of foods and meals, understand what goes together and inspire them to try to make something new and maybe even try it.
